Hello there everybody! Can you believe it’s almost Memorial Day Weekend?! What’s that saying “the days are long but the years are short” Sooooo true! The pool will open Saturday, YAY, and on Sunday we will remember the men and women who have died in service with a Mass in the Grotto. (weather permitting, if it’s raining – in the Fernandez Room) Mary will be crowned (anyone want to make a crown please)? and a breakfast afterwards. Monday the men’s softball season will start. Bill Judd will spin tunes all day Sunday and Monday. Cards and picnicking in the grove all weekend! Maybe some cornhole? And if you’re up for it, camping! Snack bar will be open on Monday! Aquaknight Parents: Just a reminder that we have our parent meeting Tuesday May 27 @ 7pm. We’ll be gathering under the pavilion closest to the pool. Tuesday/Wednesday are also the nights for swim evaluations, these are optional, please use the link below to sign up. One change to Mini-Knights: We’re very happy to announce that Hunter Cooper joining the Mini-Knights coaching team. Hunter will be our second coach, Patrick will not be coaching minis this summer. For those of you who don’t know Hunter, he’s a long-time Aquaknight and was an assistant coach prior to finishing up his teaching degree. Congratulations to Mrs. Gibney (Stacey’s Mom (wife of Grand Knight, John) ) who won the Margarita basket on Cinco de Mayo! We are waiting on the County for the final permit before we can post about the kids’ summer camp. Hopefully that will come this week and as soon as I receive the info, I will send a separate email! Our dear friend and Knights of Columbus member since 1982, Patrick Welsh, passed away last week. Patrick was the husband of Laura Sciannella Welsh and a huge and generous friend of 2809! At one time or another Patrick was in the bowling league (? I think), softball league, dart league and shuffleboard league! He was on the Council board too. And boy, did he love having a good time with all the good friends he made at 2809. Whether it was in the Grove, the Clubhouse, the snack bar or in the kitchen, he was always willing to donate his time and give a needed helping hand. His dance moves were epic. Patrick will be sorely missed. A memorial is planned at Borgwardt, Thursday evening starting at 6:00 pm. Please keep Laura in your prayers, thank you.
